Mr. Weng Ordered a Mineral-Retaining Under Sink Water Filter, Because of the Earthy Odor in the Filtered Water

Mr. Weng told ChengrongTimes that he wanted to order a mineral-retaining under sink wate filter.

As his friend came to his home for tea, and after drinking a cup of boiled water, his friend told him there was a obviously earthy odor in the water.

We asked Mr. Weng what kind of water source he was using.

At first, we thought it might be natural water. But surprisingly, he was using city water. However, the city water first needs to go through the community water tank, then be pressurized for the second time before being supplied to each household.

In fact, Mr. Weng had already installed a under sink ultrafiltration water filter, with a filtration precision of 0.01μm. Before the ultrafiltration filter, its seller also equipped it with a small steel-mesh water filter for pre-treatment.

But a steel-mesh filter can only filter large particles in water, such as coarse sand and fallen iron flakes. It has almost no interception effect on fine impurities.

Mr. Weng said this under sink ultrafiltration water filter had been used for 7 years, and he had never replaced the filter cartridge once. But the filtered water had always been quite good. He didn’t feel any strange smell, and when he used the filtered water to make tea, the teapot did not turn yellow as well.

Until a few days ago, when his friend came over for tea. After drinking a cup of boiled water, his friend told him, “Your water has an earthy smell. Can’t you taste it?”

Mr. Weng said he could not.

But after being reminded by his friend, the more he drank, the more he also began to taste that earthy odor.

Unexpectedly, Mr. Weng’s friend happened to be a ChengrongTimes customer. He had previously purchased one whole house water filtration system and one mineral-retaining under sink water filter from us, and his user experience had been very good. So he recommended ChengrongTimes to Mr. Weng, and that is how the conversation at the beginning happened.

Generally speaking, municipal tap water does not usually have an earthy odor. However, a chlorine smell is very common, because tap water contains a certain amount of residual chlorine for disinfection, helping to inhibit the growth of bacteria and viruses in the water.

But Mr. Weng said his community uses a water tank for secondary water supply, so it is understandable that the water may have an earthy smell. The tank needs to be cleaned regularly. If it is not cleaned on time, sediment can gradually accumulate at the bottom, which may affect the smell and taste of the water.

In addition, since the kitchen under sink water filter installed in Mr. Weng’s home is a 0.01μm ultrafiltration membrane cartridge, although it can intercept impurities, bacteria, and viruses, it cannot remove residual chlorine to make the filter water directly drinkable, also cannot help remove unpleasant odors from the water and improve the drinking taste

That is why the filter water was very clear, but still had an earthy smell.

Although ChengrongTimes’ mineral-retaining under sink water filter also uses ultrafiltration membrane, but the ultrafiltration membrane we use is not an ordinary ultrafiltration membrane.

It is a chlorine-reducing ultrafiltration membrane, based on Chengrong Ultrafiltration Factory’s proprietary technology, which is rarely found elsewhere worldwide.

Also, our filter cartridge is not made only of ultrafiltration membrane. The filter cartridge of our mineral-retaining water filter is compounded with four different filtration materials.

Activated carbon fiber is used to adsorb odor, color, and residual chlorine in the water, effectively improving the taste.

The chlorine-removal ultrafiltration membrane is used to remove 99.99% of impurities, bacteria, viruses, and the residual chlorine that has not been completely adsorbed by the activated carbon fiber, allowing the produced mineral-like water to reach the direct drinking standard.

However, Mr. Weng’s kitchen ultrafiltration water filter can only intercept bacteria, viruses, sediment, and other impurities in the water. It cannot remove the earthy odor in the water.

Mr. Weng’s friend had already become used to drinking ChengrongTimes mineral-like water. So when he drank the water at Mr. Weng’s home, he could immediately taste the earthy smell in the water.

But Mr. Weng could not taste it at first, because he had no comparison.

Since under sink water filter have certain requirements for the incoming water quality, and Mr. Weng’s home had no whole house water filter installed.

While the water came from a secondary water supply tank with an unexpected earthy odor, we estimated that there should be quite a lot of sediment and other impurities in his raw water.

So we suggested that Mr. Weng add a 0.1μm microfiltration water filter before the mineral-retaining under sink water filter, using it as a pre-filter to protect the mineral-retaining filter cartridge from being consumed too quickly.

Mr. Weng agreed.

He knew ChengrongTimes would not make recommendations randomly.

We value our reputation even more than making money itself.

Customer trust is more important than money.
